Welcome to the Recap!

Whether you missed it live or just want to watch again, this recording shares helpful insights and steps you can take to move forward.

How retail buyers think (and why most pitches miss the mark)

Retail buyers are not customers or investors. They are corporate decision makers focused on performance, risk, and category growth. Strong pitches explain how the product will sell in their stores and support the buyer’s success internally.

Large purchase orders create pressure through net terms, cash timing gaps, inventory costs, and payroll demands. Revenue does not equal cash, and brands must plan ahead to avoid growth becoming a financial risk.

Most buyers do not ask for detailed financial statements. They care about operational readiness such as production capacity, logistics, warehousing, and clear communication when issues arise.

Successful brands grow in stages. Product first, then direct to consumer, followed by local, regional, and national retail. Even when offered a large rollout, founders can propose smaller tests to protect long term success.

Warm introductions matter. Reaching out before trade shows, using LinkedIn strategically, asking the right questions in buyer meetings, and following up with value helps keep conversations moving forward.
